Summary
An absolutely fantastic result given both their league position and the
fact that we could have lost all of the first three matches.

The Games
Heather
(SL3)
lost 1 - 3
against a 4
How Heather didn't win this match is beyond me! Quite simply, in her first
game since the start of the season she was the better player only for Be
Rude Not 2 to fall foul of the 'bar without a bridge' crap for the second
time this season! We all need to buy one of those little cue add-ons!
Mark
(SL4)
won 3 - 2
against a 4
Playing a very good 4 Mark got off to a great start in each of the first
three racks only to find himself 2-1 behind. Never mind, his opponent duly
obliged by scratching on the 8 ball for the next two racks! it
made up for their team not ensuring the bar had a bridge! Mark's shot of
the night was definitely the long yellow taking the cue ball off the
cushion, travelling the length of the table and moving his one remaining
difficult solid out from behind a stripe. This took place in the crucial
rack 2 whilst being 1-0 down.
Darren
(SL7)
won 5 - 2
against a 5
After winning the first rack by playing about 28 snookers against a very
attacking SL5 I then decided to go for everything over the next three
racks. Needless to say, at 2-1 down it took a fortuitous leave on the black
and some sound advice from Mr Spurr to get me back on track. At 2-2 I then
bored him to death with defense and never looked in doubt. Shot of the
match for me was my 6 ball played off his frozen stripe and 8 ball to
develop the 8 ball and leave me an easy last solid. Insignificant however
given his amazing length of the table kick to not only hit but correctly
pot the 8 ball in rack 3 - fantastic shot.
Sean
(SL5)
won 4 - 1
against a 4
Three matches, three SL4 opponents, three 4-1 wins... ...anyone see where
I'm going with this?!? Leading 2-1 in matches and with a chance to clinch
the win against one of the top teams Mike Spurr (with his knowledge of the
other team and sacrificing his own playing spot) correctly nominated Sean
to close out the match. The match was a mix of glimpses of the old fluent
Sean and the bedrock experience he has of how to win a match. The bizarre 8
scratch in rack 4 apart, the result was never in doubt. Solid performance!
Sparky
(SL4)
won 3 - 0
against a 5
Being 3-1 up in the match I thought it would be good experience for young
Sparky to get in with the big boys so threw him in against a SL5. The
result, absolutely amazing. Sparky swept him in little under 15 minutes and
in doing so put himself in contention for 1st, 2nd and probably 3rd place
in the shot of the night awards. The top two have to be the defensive
snooker in rack one off the outside edge of the 4 ball to leave his
opponent frozen behind the 2 ball and the outrageous length of the table
kick in rack three that not only hit the 2 ball, but potted it down the
long cushion and finished plum on the 8 ball.

Shot of The Night
Four contenders from this match... ...we're turning into a team of crowd
pleasers:
Sparky:
Sparky's outrageous length of the table kick in rack three that not only
hit the 2 ball, but potted it down the long cushion and finished plum on
the 8 ball.

Sparky:
Sparky's defensive snooker in rack one off the outside edge of the 4
ball to leave his opponent frozen behind the 2 ball.

Mark:
Mark's long yellow taking the cue ball off the cushion, travelling the
length of the table and moving his one remaining difficult solid out
from behind a stripe.

Darren:
Darren's 6 ball played off his frozen stipe and 8 ball to develop the 8
ball and leave an easy last solid.

Worst Shot of The Night
Darren:
I really don't think there was one... ...if there was then it was
probably me!
