The Games

Darren (SL7) won 5 - 0 against a 4
Sean's inspired suggestion to get us off to a flyer and get a point on the board paid dividends. This may not have been pretty to watch but I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed the defensive battle. Most of the racks were reasonably close but I seemed to run the table when it mattered most.

Heather (SL3) won 2 - 1 against a 3
Another win for a player that shouldn't be pushing the next skill level, and the important 'second point' that we wanted from the night. Heather's playover the last few weeks has been awesome. The first rack was stroll but required a fantastic cut on a long black to seal it (SOTN candidate) and whilst a rare error with ball in hand and only one stripe and black remaining enabled her opponent to take the second rack, she recovered well to take the match. Also has to be said that the final black, along the length of the cushion was another very good shot!

Sparky (SL3) lost 0 - 2 against a 3
Possibly the best defeat of Mark's season ;-) In truth, Pete made a fantastic one visit clearance in the first and Sparky never really got back into the match. What it is does ensure however is that we will have at least two SL3s going into the play-off's. A special mention though for the rack two, ball in hand attempt at the purple solid that somehow missed by a bigger margin then before it was played!. Sorry Sparky but me thinks we have a worst shot of the night candidate.

Sean (SL5) lost 2 - 5 against a 7
I still can't believe that Sean didn't take this match but I won't go into too much detail for fear of causing him further pain. Needless to say, Sean had Tim absolutely reeling in just about every rack and who can forget that black. Hill / hill rack, ball in hand with two solid's on the table, simple pots and positioning to leave a reasonably easy black for the match and then..... ...sorry, I did say I wouldn't go into too much detail!. Anyway, it's a result that could well help the team much more then getting the point for the win.

Mark (SL5) won 4 - 2 against a 5
A great match between two VERY evenly matched SL5s, we were all glued to this one!. After winning the first rack in real style Mark somehow contrived to miss an easy 8 ball twice in rack two and let the pendulum swing back to his opponent. In the third rack, a fluked stripe by Tristan put him on for a seemingly easy run out until he scratched on his final ball! With ball in hand, Mark made his last solid and the 8 ball to again take the lead. Tristan took the next to again level the match but two very close racks that both went Mark's way got him over the line. Two fantastic shots to mention:[br/] The incredibly simple snooker in rack five when a shot was on. Just a little touch on his penultimate stripe ensured Mark was going to have ball in hand with two stripes remaining and an open black. So easy and yet so effective.[br/] The thin cut on the purple solid in rack one taking the cue ball twice across the table to finish plum on the black.

Shot of The Night

Mark: Being a defensive player, I have to go for Mark's incredibly simple snooker in rack five when a shot was on. Just a little touch on his penultimate stripe ensured Mark was going to have ball in hand with two stripes remaining and an open black. So easy and yet so effective. Bandit!!!

Worst Shot of The Night

Sparky: Sparky's rack two, ball in hand! attempt at the purple solid that somehow missed by a bigger margin then before it was played!
