Summary
A very good start to the new season. It's not easy to go straight into a
new campaign having played constantly for the last 15 weeks and won
everything on offer so this was a really good performance.

The Games
Mark
(SL5)
won 4 - 1
against a 4
Strangely enough, exactly the same start as last season with one of our
SL5s playing the first match and winning 4-1 against an SL4!. In truth,
Mark's opponent gave him a huge advantage by sinking two early 8's at a
time when he was starting to show signs of coming back from an 0-3 deficit.
Although not a fluent performance Mark was certainly good value for the win
in the end. An excellent start to the season.
Sparky
(SL3)
lost 1 - 3
against a 4
At 0-2 down Sparky seemed to lose the shackles that have been weighing him
down during his last few performances and visibly gained in confidence. Let
it be known that his opponent is at the higher end of SL4s in terms of
ability but Sparky definitely put him under pressure. A close game in the
end and a real confidence boost for next week.
Mike
(SL5)
won 4 - 1
against a 5
Without doubt one of the best performances we've seen from Mike... ...he
just never looked like losing. Confidently striding round the table and
playing with complete fluency Mike strolled into a 3-0 lead against a very
good SL5 and closed the match out soon after dropping the fourth rack.
Lori
(SL4)
won 4 - 1
against a 2
A war of attrition where experience definitely told in the end. The whole
match was very even but worth mentioning the shot of night in rack 5 when
with the 8 ball frozen against her opponents ball, Lori managed to sink her
last solid and free the 8 ball... ...in the process moving it close to
the pocket. Although the resulting leave on the 8 ball was missed, Lori did
close out the match.
Mini
(SL4)
lost 1 - 2
against a 3
It was late and everyone was tired!. Can't remember too much about the
match but needless to say, with the match already won then it may turn out
to be a 'good' defeat.

Shot of The Night
Lori:
Lori's shot in rack 5 when with the 8 ball frozen against her opponents
ball, Lori managed to sink her last solid and free the 8 ball.

Worst Shot of The Night
Sparky:
Sparky for having ball in hand and not only missing an easy pot but also
not hitting a cushion!
