Summary

The Games

Sparky (SL3) won 3 - 1 against a 2
Sparky had to dig deep to win what was a very close match. After winning the first a 'becoming regular' 8 scratch in the second got his opponent back into the match before some clever defensive play clinched the last two racks. Tip to remember - you don't always have to try and make a ball, defensive play is your friend.

Mike (SL5) won 4 - 0 against a 4
Not much to say apart from the fact that Mike kept up his excellent recent form. The match was never in doubt.

Mini (SL5) lost 2 - 4 against a 5
Incredibly after getting to the 8 ball first in the two opening racks Marc managed to scratch. Marc won the next two to get back into the match. Not sure how actually, at times it seemed to be a case of who was trying to lose the most. Anyway, the fightback proved to be a token gesture as the next two racks went to his opponent.

Heather (SL3) won 2 - 1 against a 3
The second of our SL3s kept up the recent good form with another solid performance. Lost the first and then never looked in doubt in racks two and three. Shot of the night for Heather's excellent tactical safety shot in rack 3 of her match. With just the black on the table and nothing on, Heather played a perfect stun with right hand english to leave the cue ball in the middle of the top cushion and send the 8 ball to the other end of the table. Simple and effective! Amazing statistic that Heather has actually only lost once for this team in Wednesday night league play. The two defeats in the Tri-Cup probably help her SL rating at the moment!

Darren (SL7) won 5 - 2 against a 5
After breaking and then sitting down to watch my opponent clear the table in zero innings I new it was going to be a long night!. As it was, it turned out to be a very good battle and a very valuable win. Nothing particularly special to mention in terms of play.

Shot of The Night

Heather: Heather's excellent tactical safety shot in rack 3 of her match. With just the black on the table and nothing on, Heather played a perfect stun with right hand english to leave the cue ball in the middle of the top cushion and send the 8 ball to the other end of the table. Bandit!!!

Worst Shot of The Night

Sparky: Sorry Sparky but the 8 scratch in rack 2 wins again... ...looks like you're running away with this title!
