Summary

The Games
Sean
(SL5)
won 4 - 0
against a 3
A very comfortable, no frills win from Sean. With 'new player' SL3s you
never really know what you are going to face but although he made some good
shots, Sean had far too much experience and class. Sean's best shot was an
excellent cut on the first 8 ball from a tricky angle to secure the
initial rack.
Lori
(SL4)
lost 2 - 2
against a 3
The more I think about it, the more I struggle to see how Lori lost. Having
won the opening rack with a memorable three ball clearance Lori then played
an excellent long final solid to leave what appeared a 'banker' 8 ball for
a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately the bridge proved to be an obstacle too far and
the rack went the other way. Lori, not to give up, then sealed the third
rack with an amazing bank on her final stripe having called it on a timeout
to leave herself another easy 8 ball for her second lead of the night. In
the hill / hill rack though, the luck ran entirely against our fighter and
her opponent was able to post his match clinching rack to the board.
Mike
(SL5)
won 4 - 1
against a 4
At 1-1 things we're beginning to look like it wasn't to be our night.
Against a good opponent, Mike had to rely on his superior defensive play to
get himself through for a win. Most notably, refusing a number of simple
shots in rack 4 to play an awesome full ball snooker and get the advantage
of ball in hand. Unfortunately, with ball in hand Mike managed to secure
the worst shot of the night award by missing the 5 ball along a short
cushion! It proved academic.
Sparky
(SL3)
won 2 - 0
against a 3
A complete no contest. Beevers continued his excellent run of form by
posting another victory. This, like Sean earlier in the night, was never in
doubt... ...so much so that I don't remember a great deal about the
match!
Mark
(SL5)
lost 1 - 3
against a 4
Mark's slump showed little sign of ending against a competent opponent. We
need to see the smile on his face again to know that he's still enjoying
his pool... ...the wins will follow!
