After running the first rack I perhaps got a little complacent and the rest of the match wasn't pretty. My opponent played great and put me under real pressure but the moment she missed the simple 8 ball in rack three I knew it was over. Again, I had the utter joy of closing out the match and our second consecutive title.

This win was all about tactics. Having won the toss, I chose to put up first purely so the opposition would have to put up first in match 4. As long as we had won one of the first three matches we would be in a strong position but winning two of the first three put us in an incredibly strong position and able to leave me to play the weakest player in terms of skill level. I never took the match for granted and felt like I actually played really well. A few shots of note:[br/] Having left myself frozen to the one ball near the side rail, one of the opposition jokingly commented on my lack of positional play. Slightly niggled, I chose to kick off the cushion to hit the one ball and play a combo on the three ball hanging over the opposite pocket - priceless!. A length of table bank on the 5 ball in rack four to develop the 8 ball....[br/] The very next shot, having not had too much luck in developing the 8 ball, I noticed an opponents ball hanging just past the centre pocket and making the pocket a large inviting opportunity. I couldn't refuse and played the 8 ball off the top cushion and into the centre pocket off my opponents stripe. Absolutely delighted!

Shot Of The Night: I'm finally going to award a shot of the night to myself - sorry team. I'm still pumped at the thought of the banked 8 ball off my opponents stripe and into the centre pocket... ...made all the better by Sparky having captured it on video!

After dropping the first rack against an opponent who was clearly up for the challenge I left myself a mountain to climb by needing the next five. Fortunately, some element of form returned and I managed to close out the racks needed. Shot of the night candidate has to be turning a tight snooker left to me with my opponent having only one ball remaining into a snooker of my own.

After a terrible scratch with the first rack at my mercy I managed to creep my way to a 3-2 lead. From there, it has to be said that two large slices of luck made the win a great deal easier then it was threatening to be. First, my opponent scratched on the black in rack 6 and then I closed the match out with an 8 on the break in rack 7. Just happy to keep the winning run going!

A performance to be happy with against an SL 6 that had won the MVP title for the past two sessions, both times with unbeaten records, and was also unbeaten this session. In fact, in the 2004 calendar year he has the impressive record of being 26-2 (including last night) in league matches with both defeats coming against SL7s. A nice break and run got me going in the first rack and I never looked back.

After breaking and then sitting down to watch my opponent clear the table in zero innings I new it was going to be a long night!. As it was, it turned out to be a very good battle and a very valuable win. Nothing particularly special to mention in terms of play.

After a scratchy first rack it turned out to be a bit of a drubbing in truth. I know that my opponent is a more then reasonable player but he never seemed to get going and I managed to get a few quick racks on the board including a break and run.

A bit rusty for my first appearance of the season but managed to get the job done against a good SL5. Probably lost a rack I should have won (having missed the 8 ball) but then subsequently won a rack I should have lost to move into a 4-1 lead. The last final rack was a nice open table and a simple run out.

Although I thought about not playing, the opportunity to close the season for the team was just too appealing. Fortunately, I was helped by the fact that I played an opponent who had been swept by me just two weeks earlier. Worth noting that I finally managed a break and run this season. It was a total honor to put the finishing touches to an incredible season long team performance and get the celebrations started!

Similar to Sean's match really. A lackluster performance resulting in the loss of a rack and necessitating winning the final two racks for the match. Fortunately, my opponent's nerves definitely played a part and I was able to secure our berth in the final. I'm guessing that everyone's nerves were slightly shredded and I can't imagine what was going through poor Sparky's mind knowing that he'd be playing the decider if it came to it!

Sean's inspired suggestion to get us off to a flyer and get a point on the board paid dividends. This may not have been pretty to watch but I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed the defensive battle. Most of the racks were reasonably close but I seemed to run the table when it mattered most.

Finally a comfortable result against a SL5, managing to put the 'go 2-1 down and need four in a row' demons to bed! Truth be told, I definitely had the run of the table in this one although I seemed to be playing reasonably well also. Hats off to my opponent who is clearly enjoying his first season of Wednesday night pool.

Hmmm, I'm really not sure what to write!. During the early evening banter I had definitely tried to 'get in my opponents head' but I had no idea just how successful I had been. Jim asked me after the match what had he done wrong and my answer was simple... ...you thought about it far too much. I've never before won a match just from reputation!. Not a great deal to remember about the match apart from another break and run chance that went begging.

One day I need to work out how not to go 2-1 behind in a 5-3 race! Hopefully it made for good entertainment though? Nothing memorable really, apart from the awful orange stripe in the third rack that should have been an easy run out... ...I missed and he potted the black for 2-1. Still, managed to then win the next four against one of the best SL5s that I've seen.

After winning the first rack by playing about 28 snookers against a very attacking SL5 I then decided to go for everything over the next three racks. Needless to say, at 2-1 down it took a fortuitous leave on the black and some sound advice from Mr Spurr to get me back on track. At 2-2 I then bored him to death with defense and never looked in doubt. Shot of the match for me was my 6 ball played off his frozen stripe and 8 ball to develop the 8 ball and leave me an easy last solid. Insignificant however given his amazing length of the table kick to not only hit but correctly pot the 8 ball in rack 3 - fantastic shot.

He was a new 4 and probably more realisitically a 2 so no problems this evening. The only memorable shot of my match was missing an easy 5 ball for a break and run in the final rack!... ...oh well, they will start coming, I promise!

Still a bit scratchy at times and definitely should have had at least one break and run. Fortunately my opponent gave me a minimum of two reasonable chances a rack and I managed to squeeze out on top. Thank you to Sean for stopping me trying a 'stupid' shot whilst going for the run out in rack 5! Must stop trying so hard!
