Heather came flying out of the blocks in all 4 racks but the rub of the
green just wasn't with her. At 1-2 behind, I still remember the long 4 ball
that somehow managed to stay out of the pocket with the white being in
perfect position for the final solid and the 8 ball. Credit to her
opponent, he managed to hold his nerve at the end of three racks to clinch
a win.

A very impressive performance resulting in a totally comprehensive victory.
The highlight of the match was undoubtedly the 5 ball run out in rack 2
which began with a great shot to make a stripe and disturb the final three
stripes bunched together. A shot of the night candidate if ever I saw one.
Shot Of The Night:The pot on the stripe in rack 2 to disturb her final three stripes and go on to run the rack was fantastic.

Ok so the 8 scratch from her opponent in the first rack certainly helped
but it amazes me how often Heather is underestimated. Back came her
opponent to win three racks in a row to set up another hill / hill chance
but when the opportunity for Heather arose she duly took it. A fantastic
long cut on the solid bringing the cue ball back across the table for a
straight 8 ball and the match. Awesome!

A slightly inebriated Heather found herself steamrollered by an in-form
opponent. A special mention has to go to the amazing three ball combo in
rack two which actually followed a complete fluke! - the story of Heather's
night.

The second of our SL3s kept up the recent good form with another solid
performance. Lost the first and then never looked in doubt in racks two and
three. Shot of the night for Heather's excellent tactical safety shot in
rack 3 of her match. With just the black on the table and nothing on,
Heather played a perfect stun with right hand english to leave the cue ball
in the middle of the top cushion and send the 8 ball to the other end of
the table. Simple and effective! Amazing statistic that Heather has
actually only lost once for this team in Wednesday night league play. The
two defeats in the Tri-Cup probably help her SL rating at the moment!

An evenly matched game although at 1-0 down, Heather really wasn't troubled
again. A fantastic 5 ball run out by her opponent in the first created the
deficit but Heather came back strongly in racks 2 and 3. A simple 8 ball
with ball in hand won rack 2 and then a very good long 8 ball in rack 3
sealed the match.

For the second week running I find myself purring over Heather's
performance. The team clearly had a shaky start and you could argue that at
1-0 down Heather was lucky to have a chance to win rack 3 but I see things
differently. Against a very good 3 Heather got to the black first in all
three racks including a great four ball run in rack 1. It should also be
said that none of the racks went more then 4 innings which illustrates the
level played. My lasting memory though has to be the final five ball run
finished with a long 8 ball to take the match. In the last few weeks
Heather has been playing at a level better then anything I've seen her
achieve over the last couple of years. Tim echoed this last night. Awesome.
Shot Of The Night:Shot of the night must again go to Heather for just about every shot she took.

Another win for a player that shouldn't be pushing the next skill level,
and the important 'second point' that we wanted from the night. Heather's
playover the last few weeks has been awesome. The first rack was stroll but
required a fantastic cut on a long black to seal it (SOTN candidate) and
whilst a rare error with ball in hand and only one stripe and black
remaining enabled her opponent to take the second rack, she recovered well
to take the match. Also has to be said that the final black, along the
length of the cushion was another very good shot!

Probably Heather's most dominant performance to date, absolutely never in
doubt. I am still in awe of the amazing long stripe with perfect position
on the 8 ball. After calling a timeout (which made us all laugh!) Heather
made the 8 ball and concluded a 5 ball run to take the second rack. Even
more amazing, Heather's opponent enjoyed the match so much she even
mentioned to Heather how much fun she'd had and how refreshing it was to
play someone that wasn't afraid to applaud good shots. What can I say? A
bandit SL3 and a genuinely great personality!
Shot Of The Night:Heather, rack 2: amazing long stripe with perfect position on the 8 ball (and a really funny timeout to follow!)

Alas our bandit SL2 will most likely be back to a bandit SL3 next week!. In
a short race this was always going to be a close match so with the first
rack in the balance Heather made a fantastic 4 ball run to get to the
black. No shot was on so a clever defense seemingly set up an opening but
her opponent returned the complement leaving Heather a very difficult cut
on the 8 ball in the center pocket. Heather showed nerves of steel and
fantastic ability to nonchalantly sink the black. Although the match was
won with her opponent making the most obvious 8 scratch I have ever seen
this was a great win.

How Heather didn't win this match is beyond me! Quite simply, in her first
game since the start of the season she was the better player only for Be
Rude Not 2 to fall foul of the 'bar without a bridge' crap for the second
time this season! We all need to buy one of those little cue add-ons!
Match #1 vs
Be Rude Not 2,
05/19/04,

Ironically Heather only had a SL2 rating because of a few losses whilst
playing for Be Rude Not 2. How poetic then that her first game as a 2
would be against Be Rude Not 2... ...suffice to say I don't think she'll be
a 2 for long! The match was never in doubt although Emily played well?
Best shot from Heather was in the first rack to
play her final stripe in the middle pocket with a bit of draw to finish
straight on the black... ...no mistakes black went in clean. Did I
write that a SL2 is playing with draw! Bandit!
